Photograph 3429LG.jpgExeter Bus and Coach station is located on Paris Street. Paris Street is a fairly steep hill making the routes in and out difficult for wheelchair users. It also means that the Bus station itself is on two levels (not floors). On the upper level is the main bus terminus with bus stands 1-17 and a small building incorporating the travel information centre and ticket office. There is a waiting room with 20 seats adjacent to the bus stands, this is on level access through automatic opening sliding double doors.
Photograph 3430LG.jpgAround to the back of the main terminus on the lower level are Male and Female toilets which both have baby changing facilities and an accessible toilet (RADAR key required). This area is accessible via steps from the main terminus area or level access via Paris Street turning down the hill and turning left into the lower level of the Bus Station.
Photograph 3431LG.jpgAccess to the ticket office is either up a moderate ramp into automatic double doors or up 1 step into manual double doors.
City Centre buses are prodominently accessible for wheelchair users. Please see the operator policies on the right hand side.

Bus Travel in Exeter and the Surrounding Area

There is an established network of bus routes which cover the entire city and routes to outlying towns and villages. The provision of bus only lanes has increased their efficiency and ability to arrive at stops on time. There are some low-floor buses which ease the boarding and alighting process especially for the elderly, the disabled or for people with shopping and children. There are a variety of different tickets available which make exploring the city and surrounding areas even easier.

Most bus services in Exeter are run commercially, the predominant operator being Stagecoach Devon Ltd. A network of buses operate within the urban area of Exeter, many of them mini buses. These services are characterised by letter e.g. A to Alphington. There are also Park & ride services operating within the City. County Buses serve outlaying villages and rural areas and generally terminate at the bus station.

In Exeter, services generally run from 7am to 11.30pm. There are no night services and in some areas no evening or Sunday service. Details of all services are available from individual operators. Please use the offsite links below to obtain up to date timetable information.

Stagecoach - Access for All

We recognise that every customer we serve has their own specific individual needs and accessibility is a key factor in providing attractive public transport services. As far as possible within the resources we have available, we are continuing to make it easier for people to use our bus and rail services. This includes tailoring our network and frequency of services to meet demand.

We have made further progress during the year on our long-term programme to ensure all our buses in the UK are fully low-floor. We have announced a further investment in new accessible vehicles in the UK for the year ending 30 April 2007. We are also helping provide demand responsive transport services in the UK, which are meeting the needs of those mobility problems who require a service from their front door.
